Today I want to share with you a concept to change not only your own mindset about Time Management but also the people around you. The basic concept starts with a simple number 1440!
What is 1440?
Simply, it’s the number of minutes in a day!
I’m sure you have come across situations where someone wanted your help for just a minute, but that minute turned into an hour. Or you thought you’d check your messages in a minute, and realize you’ve been at it for half an hour.
I came across this concept in the book “15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management”, by “Kevin Kruse” (also available on Audible)
He explained that he put up a sign saying 1440 outside his office door, and his colleagues started asking him what that meant. He explained that its a reminder of the value of time and how he needed to invest each minute, which made his colleagues start to realize their own time value and made those intervening meetings shorter and shorter.
I’ve tried it and it works! Once you put that message in a polite but effective way, you start to bring the same change in people around you, and pretty soon your “1-minute help” meetings will start getting closer to really being a minute long!
